The images below demonstrate the capability of this microscope to tile or mosaic large fields of view at high resolution.

The image at the left shows many tiles of a slice of brain. (These could be montaged with the borders less evident.)

The image at the right is shown with each pixel of the original data displayed at full resolution. According to the image metadata, each pixel represents 0.454x0.454x1 micron^3 as imaged with a Zeiss EC Plan-Neofluar 10x/0.30 Ph 1 lens, a 1.0x tube lens, and an Axiocam 503c.

In brief, an area 5.4 x 7.2 mm was scanned at 0.45 um per pixel resolution with a 10X lens to create a 1.7 GB file. If this were done with a 20X lens, the resolution would have been much higher (N.A. 0.8 lens instead of a 0.3 N.A. lens) and the file size would be 4x larger.
