Problem:
Imaris crashes because there is not enough memory. Cache on drive C is too small.

Fix:
Assign cache to drive D.
Downside: D is slower than C.

From Imaris support:

Thank you for reaching out to the Imaris Applications support team.   You can change the Imaris cache drive in the Preferences (see attached screenshot).  I typically set a folder directly on my D or E drive so that I can monitor it easily

The cache drive should be a fast hard drive with plenty of space.  Either SSD or M.2 drive.  If you wish to can set 2 different drives, but the cache space is only as large as the smallest drive and only as fast as the slowest drive.  Ideally, identical paired drives would work too.  Typically most use a single fast SSD hard drive.

I often recommend a dedicated drive that is never used for storage.  If you have multiple different user of the workstation who have their own Windows logons, you can specify the location as a "global Parameter in the Imaris Configurator.  (see attached screenshot).

"System Preferences".  Set it here for all user (ideal scenario). Next time you launch Imaris it should be set.
